Here’s part of my hindsight for 2010! (To help me with those resolutions you know.)
If I had kept up with web programming basics… If I had been making headway all along…
- I would be in a better position at at the company I work with. I’d be darn near indispensable in fact!
- I would be worrying less about bills because I’d be in a position to earn more money.
- I’d have more work AND more free time (wrap your head around that one).
- I’d be doing something more dynamic and exciting than just blogging right now.
- I’d be courted by companies outside the dull-end job that I’d also be re-courted by (I’d be a net-hotty in other words).
- My hobby sites would be potential game changers- both financially and socially.
- I could actually help a few people that I am indebted to with real skills.
- I would be saving time doing things I don’t have the time to do now but wish I could.
- I would get a hefty raise for my side jobs (yes, I have side jobs- the bills dictate).
- I would feel 10 years younger! It’s just sad when technology passes you by like a snotty nosed kid on a skateboard (esp. when you used to be that kid).
I guess my resolution for 2011 will be baby steps and exploration once again- nothing like that to get you feeling young and vital- for web based programming. Why should cascading style sheets cause such a brain freeze for me? It’s not like they’re magic or anything! And why does xhtml still sound so perverse to me? It’s all markup right? Basically, it’s all just puzzles I haven’t been interested in for too long (distracted by the sure dollar with no thought to the ambiguous future). I want to get back in to the game while there’s still time. Take a second and watch the video I’m linking if you feel like giving me a high five!
