I think I’m fully convinced that credit cards are evil! I used to think it was just me and my bad spending habits but… nah. They’re evil. And credit card companies can get really ruthless if you find yourself in a financial hole. So, what should you do if you find yourself looking up from the bottom of an impossibly deep hole? The first step is to stop digging of course. That means cutting up ALL credit cards (and not signing up for any new ones).

OK, that was both easy and hard right? Now that you’ve done that (you haven’t have you… ah, I understand) the next step is probably seeking temporary outside help. The collections departments are full of cold-blooded sociopaths- ok, not all of them are vampires as people but still- you probably already know what I’m talking about. By the time you hit rock bottom, over 50% of your debt with credit card companies can be added late fees, other penalties, and exorbitant interest. This company, Premier Debt Solvers, says they will fight just as nasty to cut a lot of your burden down so you can have a realistic shot at being debt free. Their initial consultation is free so you can weigh what they tell you and research about them on the internet before committing.

There are other alternatives for help as well. Dave Ramsey has some good advice.

But whatever you do… STOP DIGGING!
