Like many other things in life, I didn’t know how important a good credit score was until it was gone. And this isn’t just about being able to get a loan- but being able to get a loan I can afford. To put it more bluntly… we got in some debt trouble a few years ago and the interest rates were HORRIBLE (got any debt at 29%?)! At one point we were paying over $500 a month in interest and penalties. Then, when we buckled down and started trying to get out of trouble… what do ya know? More trouble (it’s like a financial downward spiral with credit). If you don’t need to borrow money, chances are you can get it AND at a decent interest rate. If you do need money, odds are you’re gonna get the short end of the stick.
This goes beyond dumb credit card debt though- every major purchase has a hidden tax tacked on… and your “risk” level determines how high you fly in that tax bracket called interest. Do you even know your altitude? I didn’t (but I’m no example to follow for sure).
Sometimes, like in my case, the bad credit score is deserved. Maybe not all-the-way deserved but we didn’t challenge the call on the field. Other times, credit scores can be skewed by blatant bad calls and pure misinformation. This stuff happens every day. It happened to me at least 4 times and dealing with that (on top of the rest) almost made me a crazy person!
Anyway, I typed all that to share a link. Here’s a company to have in your corner for this messy fight. Credit Improvement. I kind of wish the system was different but it’s not… credit ratings affect us in a real way all the time! This struck home for me again about a month ago when I was able to roll more of our debt into a loan with a lower interest rate (putting another $100 into our monthly budget). Yep, I’m flying at a lower altitude now thank goodness!
Here’s another nice assurance from the company I’m spotlighting tonight: they have a money back guarantee! If your credit score doesn’t go up, your money back. When you consider the real dollars that go out inĀ interestĀ paid on debt this looks like a no brainer to me. Especially if your credit score is below 700. Check them out. This is possibly the fastest way to make money. Or, put another way, this is the fastest way to stop losing money!
