I posted a tiny bit about this company earlier and promised to provide more details so… Here I am again!

Like I said before, their $3.95 charge for hosting is cheap. It’s very low compared to many companies (maybe not the cheapest but definitely way down the ladder). The surprising thing to me is what you get for it! I’ve been in the web hosting biz- may be again in the future?- and I know a crazy bargain when I see it. And it really is crazy over at ebound. It kind of makes me glad I don’t have to compete with companies like this anymore! Especially when I think about the headache of providing 24/7 technical support.

Their $3.95 per month account kicks off with… how much bandwidth limit? NONE! Oh, I know what you’re thinking, how much space are you restricted to on the server? Ha, it’s not even metered! I still can’t figure out how they make that work but it’s their game so…  Top it off with unlimited email addresses & the option for a free domain name. How do you compete with that?

They have an uptime guarantee of 97.7% (not too impressive- anyone can give a guarantee then credit you for a month when they fail) but they also have a 90 day money back promise if you’re not happy with them. The full refund guarantee is pretty tight. Their webmaster interface is cPanel  (with fantastico) and they have a reseller control panel (which, like I said, I may be utilizing at some point in the future). cPanel is great all by itself though- very simple and intuitive. Several pre-installed or auto-install scripts are also included in the package (you know- blogs, forums, shopping carts, stats, mailing list programs, spam blockers… what you’d expect from a higher priced package really).

But here’s where my eyes popped. I can see all the scripts & stuff for $3.95 (though the unmetered storage & transfer already raised my eyebrows), but throw in the ability to stream audio and video in multiple formats? That’s just crazy! I was thinking “If they ever get a super popular multimedia site hooked up like that they are gonna CHOKE!” Or, maybe they’re smarter than I was… maybe they know that our sites aren’t going to eat up 50 gigs and strangle bandwidth with celebrity video streaming nonstop. Maybe they know selling the dream is a safe bet. It’s also nice to know there’s no ceiling on our aspirations!

Welcome back wild, wild web! And… follow the white rabbit.
